Recently we were able to settle a case involving a your lady who suffered severe burns to her body. She was renting an apartment in a low income apartment complex. She had complained about her stove not working properly for several months. The manager of the apartment attempted to fix the issue but failed to do so. Our client continued to complain and nothing was done. One evening she left a pot of grease on the stove believing that the stove was off. However, the stove remained on and the grease began to smoke. Our client removed the pot of grease to take outside. When she opened the door the oxygen from the air outside the apartment caused the grease to flame up into a large ball of fire catching our client on fire. After filing of our complaint and taking several depositions in the matter we were able to reach a settlement that our client was very happy about. She stated that she thought she would never get a lawyer to take her case and had been turned down by several lawyer. We were very pleased to be able to help her receive some closure to an incident that she will always carry with her.

It can be difficult to cultivate a practice in todays market place. My practice has been establish solely by word of mouth. I believe that the best way to grow a practice that is sustainable for a long period of time is to treat people with respect and courtesy. I never tell someone something that I can't deliver, that means that sometimes I have to tell people things that they don't want to hear, but in the long run if you prepare each client for the potential issues in the case no one has expectations that are unachievable. After thirteen years of practicing law in Alabama I believe that honesty is something that client appreciate the most.
