Charlie, currently the COO of the firm and a member of its Executive Board, is an experienced litigator and represents clients in all forms of commercial disputes, personal injury, planning and zoning, and real estate related litigation. Additionally, he has done a considerable amount of zoning and planning work representing both individuals, corporations and real estate developers before various zoning and planning boards.
Charlie spent a decade at the Essex County Public Defenders Office, completing his tenure as the First Assistant Public Defender. During his stint as a public defender, he tried more than 100 criminal cases, a reported decision in which the New Jersey Supreme Court recongized "Battered Woman's Syndrome" as a valid defense to homicide ( State v. Kelly)..
Charlie has been the Zoning Board of Adjustment attorney in Lincoln Park, New Jersey and was the Municipal Prosecutor in Mt. Olive Township, New Jersey from 1978-1988. He also has served as a member of the Supreme Court of New Jersey District Fee Arbitration Committee from 1985-1990.
He has also tried dozens of jury and non-jury civil cases, including complex corporate dispute, contract disputes and zoning matters.
He graduated from University of Virginia in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and Rutgers University (Newark) School of Law in 1969 with a Juris Doctorate. He is a member of the Essex County and New Jersey State Bar Associations as well as The Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is a past member of the Board of Trustees of Congregation Agudath Israel in Caldwell New Jersey and a past president of the Men's Club. He has been the North Caldwell Democratic Municipal Chairman for over 20 years. Charles is an avid runner and has completed thirteen marathons.
