• Vesco v. Superior Court (Newcomb) (2013) 221 Cal.App.4th 275. Real estate litigation matter. Ths case case closed a loophole that previously allowed people to obtain repeated unchallenged trial continuances. I was successful in getting the court of appeal to reverse the superior court judge's order. Writ of mandate was granted and opinion was publshed. Peope v. CM (2012, Ventura County Superior Court). My client was falsely accused by her step-daughter of some terrible acts of child abuse, resulting in felony charges being filed against my client and her name being placed on the state Child Abuse Central Index (CACI). I thoroughly investigated the matter and gathered evidence that the step-daughter's allegations were false. I presented the evidence to the assigned prosecutor, and the case was dismissed. I then got an order from the court, declaring my client to be factually innocent and ordering all agencies to seal or destroy all records of the case. Finally, I got my client's name removed from the CACI. Spitzer v. Oxnard Union High School District (2010, Ventura County Superior Court). I represented child with severe autism (she could not speak or otherwise communicate verbally). For several weeks, a teacher's aide was stealing my client's lunch money, and my client did not get lunch. My client would come from school every day famished. Her parents investigated and learned of the thefts. The parents wanted the school district held responsible for its complete lack of oversight of what was going on in the classroom. The case went to trial and the jury found the Oxnard Union High School District to have been 100% at fault for the thefts, for failing to properly supervise the teacher's aide (who, by the way, was smoking meth during the time period this was happening).
