I had a case involving a high paid Husband/Father in the midst of a divorce who lost his employment. I was able to have his family support obligation of $2,100 reduced to $0 for 90 days, giving him a temporary reprieve so that he could focus of looking for a new job without the worry of being in contempt despite the vehement opposition of Wife.
How did you build a successful practice?I have found that word of mouth and prompt responsiveness have been the most influential over the growth of my practice.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?Clients should look for an attorney that is knowledgeable not only about the law that concerns the case, but an attorney who has real life experience related to the case. This is extremely important in family issues. I would not want to hire an attorney who did not have children or had not gone through a divorce. It is very important to be able to relate to what your client is going through.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?Local knowledge is extremely important to the success of a case. Each judge and court has special rules and nuances that would harm a client who is represented by an attorney not familiar with the local customs.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?What makes me a unique attorney in my area is truly my life experience prior to becoming an attorney. I spent 16 years within the mortgage and construction industries and have a vast knowledge of complicated issues within those areas. I also have four children ranging in ages from 8 to 17, both boys and girls. I have been married and divorced twice. Although, I am not proud of that particular statistic, the fact that I have been through two divorces for different reasons allows me a unique perspective and empathy for my clients.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?The most rewarding aspect of my job is that I genuinely get to help people resolve very scary issues. Most people are extremely uncomfortable in a court room and I am able to give them some peace of mind while navigating the legal aspects of their problem.
What are your other interests in addition to law?I have many, many interests other than law! I love to read, watch movies, run, coach basketball for my daughter, and travel.
Are you involved in your community?I have been involved in various isolated projects through my church and youth basketball programs. Unfortunately, the majority of my community involvement is isolated to homework time that I devote to my four children. I have found that some of life's most meaningful experiences have come from helping others. I look forward to the future when I can participate more in community projects.
