Cases
People v. Trueworthy - Client was charged with Residential Burglary, 4 Counts of Assault on Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest and a lengthy car chase. We offered to plead to the car chase. At trial evidence was presented showing the officers' statements were less than truthful. Jury convicted of the Evading, but acquitted on two counts of assault, the resisting arrest and hung on the Burglary, and final two counts of Assault. At subsequent trial the assault charges were reduced from strikes (requiring lifetime Driver's License Ban) to simple felonies to run concurrent to the other time. Client was initially charged with 5 STRIKES but now has none. People v. Evans - Client was required to register as a sex-offender for misdemeanor conduct not related to touching another person. No minors involved. After much back and forth with the Court the order certifying that Mr. Evans was in fact rehabilitated was issued; Thus removing from him the stigma and legal prohibitions of having to register as a sex offender. This order changes his life going forward. People v. Fowler - 2 Separate Three-Strikes cases, one embezzlement, one assault with a vehicle and felony vandalism. Convinced DA to dismiss a prior strike, and engaged in 6 day sentencing hearing after which the Court dismissed the remaining strike.
