How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

"Local" knowledge can be very important, whether it consists of specific substantive knowledge, knowledge of local procedure, local counsel, an expert, or even a judge. "Local" knowledge can be best leveraged by coupling with local counsel who can best address certain specific needs.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I am able to represent my clients by putting myself in their shoes. It is this capability that allows for passionate representation of those who may have been harmed or wronged, and for those who may have been falsely accused. Understanding, not only the psychology of a client's motivations, but also that of the opposition, allows me to ask more specific questions, gather and better understand appropriate documents and communications, and better prepare my client to be deposed or to be a witness at trial. The approach described above, coupled with an education in economics, business, finance and the law, along with years of hands on experience in business, finance, securities trading, regulation and enforcement allow me to be an effective advocate.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Responding to and working to fulfill a client's needs and concerns, creating a clear and proper objective; helping them organize their thoughts and creating a plan of action to best achieve that objective. It is a process of being a counselor and an advocate for a client and sometimes a guardian against either inexperienced or insecure, overly and unnecessarily aggressive opposing counsel.
