Esther E Galicia, Partner/Shareholder

Esther Galicia is a shareholder with Fowler White Burnett in its Miami office.  She is a member of the firm's Appellate Group, and concentrates her practice in civil appeals at all levels, civil litigation and trial support, and insurance coverage disputes. Ms. Galicia is an AV-rated attorney with over 23 years of experience.

Ms. Galicia has participated in over 375 appellate proceedings and more than 135 of those proceedings have resulted in published appellate decisions. She has appeared before the Florida Supreme Court and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals on several occasions. She regularly appears before all five of Florida 's District Courts of Appeal. 

Notably, Ms. Galicia represented a local municipality and its employees, at the trial court level and during all appellate proceedings, in a First Amendment action filed by two publishers of local newspapers. At issue was the constitutionality of the city's ordinance which regulated newsracks on public rights-of-way. On appeal to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals from an adverse preliminary injunction, Ms. Galicia succeeded in convincing the Court of Appeals to overturn the injunction and uphold the ordinance's challenged provisions. See Gold Coast Publications, Inc. v. Corrigan, 42 F. 3d 1336 (11th Cir. 1994). Ms. Galicia thereafter successfully opposed the newspapers' efforts to have the United States Supreme Court review the case. See Gold Coast Publications, Inc. v. Corrigan, 516 U.S. 931, 116 S. Ct. 337 (1995).

Ms. Galicia has served as an Editorial Board member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association's Trial Advocate Quarterly for more than a decade. She has authored the Trial Advocate Quarterly's "Recent Legal Developments" column since 1997. Ms. Galicia is also a member of the Appellate Practice and Advocacy Section of The Florida Bar, the Miami-Dade County Bar Association, the Cuban American Bar Association, the Broward County Bar Association, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, and the Defense Research Institute.
