John H. Elledge III, Attorney

Mr. Elledge's practice focuses on immigration law, criminal defense, family law, government affairs, civil actions, commercial practice, estate planning, real estate, and contracts litigation. He has experience with both criminal cases and civil litigation. Specifically, Mr. Elledge has represented clients charged with misdemeanors and felonies, drafted deeds, wills, and trusts, appeared on behalf of clients before immigration judges, and handled child custody and spousal support disputes.

Mr. Elledge is fluent in Spanish, and, as a result, his services are popular among the Hispanic community. Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Elledge used his Spanish skills when he served as a missionary to Honduras with the South American Missionary Society, where he taught in a bilingual school, served as a youth coordinator, and became the founding director of Our Little Roses, an orphanage for abandoned and abused girls in the northern city of San Pedro Sula. Mr. Elledge also taught Spanish at James Madison University and served as a court interpreter and language consultant.

Before becoming a partner at Eldridge & Elledge PLC, Mr. Elledge served as Legislative Assistant to Delegate Glenn Weatherholtz from 1996 to 2005, helping the Delegate in his work on the Militia, Police, and Public Safety, Courts of Justice, and Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resources Committees. Also since 1996, Mr. Elledge has been a commercial and residential REALTOR with CENTURY 21 Real Estate Unlimited in Harrisonburg.

Mr. Elledge graduated from the George Mason University School of Law. While attending law school, he interned for the Board of Immigration Appeals. For his undergraduate education, Mr. Elledge attended James Madison University where he received his B.B.A. in International Business.

Mr. Elledge is a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Harrisonburg, where he serves on the Vestry. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Rockingham Memorial Hospital Foundation. Mr. Elledge, his wife Iris, their two grown children, and their six grandchildren all make their home in Harrisonburg.
