Mr. Kleven is a member of the State Bar of California, and also a member of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California. Prior to opening his own practice in 2013, Mr. Kleven was an associate attorney at the criminal defense firm Baughman & Associates.

Mr. Kleven is experienced in handling various criminal defense cases, including:
-Driving under the influence, DUI/DWI
-DMV administrative hearings
-White collar crimes
-Illegal reentry
-Drug smuggling/importation of a controlled substance
-Alien smuggling
-Possession or distribution of child pornography
-Sex trafficking of a minor/pimping

Mr. Kleven earned his law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in international politics from Brigham Young University.

Mr. Kleven is committed to pro bono legal service. For more than five years, Mr. Kleven has volunteered at the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program. While a law student, Mr. Kleven interned with the program's HIV/AIDS Legal Services Project, assisting low-income HIV positive individuals with estate planning, bankruptcy and other debtor/creditor problems, and employment discrimination. As an attorney, he continues to assist the program and consults with the program’s attorneys and client's. He was a recipient of the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services from the State Bar of California in 2007.

In addition, Mr. Kleven has represented individuals through the American Bar Association's Immigration Justice Project of San Diego. Through the project, Mr. Kleven has represented individuals in removal proceedings. For example, Mr. Kleven was successful in assisting a legal permanent resident client obtain cancelation of removal, in The Matter of de la Torre. He received special recognition from the Immigration Justice Project in 2012 for his hours of service.

• Mr. Kleven is member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Tom Homann Law Association.

• Special Recognition from Immigration Justice Project of San Diego, American Bar Association, 2010.

• Mr. Kleven's immigration and criminal defense experience were critical in United States v. Penaloza. Mr. Kleven successfully negotiated with the assistant U.S. attorney that a deportation order was invalid, and that the defendant could not be convicted in U.S. District Court for reentering the United States.
