Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Given that our law firm's focus is on probate estate administration we handle numerous cases every year where we are able to provide much needed assistance to families who are struggling through the difficult process of the recent loss of a loved one. Our mission is to assistance our clients not only with professionalism and expert advise during such difficult times, but also with extreme compassion and care as well.

How did you build a successful practice?

I started the law firm of American Wills & Estates in 1997 and have built it into a highly successful practice through, hard work, referrals, professional recommendations and word-of-mouth. We are also one of the only law firms in the country with a practice exclusively focused on the areas of Estate Planning and Probate Estate Administration. By doing so, we have been able to provide are clients with a far superior level of up-to-date professional expertise in these areas of law than that which is traditionally provided by many other legal practitioners who only dabble in or dedicate a small portion of their practices to these areas of law.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

What should clients look for in an Estate Attorney? I would suggest first and foremost that they find one that explains the probate process to them in as plain English as possible. It is extremely important to realize that the client is already typically going through a difficult and emotional time having suffered the loss of a loved one. The last thing they need is an attorney who talks above and beyond their understanding thereby making the whole process all the more intimidating. Likewise, they should look for a law firm, like ours, that is willing to provide them with a free no cost legal consultation. Finally, what really sets our law firm apart is that we typically provide most of our legal services on a flat fee basis and we provide all of our clients with a written copy of the fee agreement before any work is undertaken. Never contract with a lawyer or firm that is unwilling to disclose precisely what their fee is going to be or how it is going to be determined. Be careful.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Despite the firm's name of American Wills & Estates, we are a law firm practicing exclusively in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As such, obviously state and local knowledge is critical in being able to provide our clients with the best possible representation.

Are you involved in your community?

Our law firm takes part and is involved in a multitude of local and community events and initiatives. I am a big dog lover (owning 3 rescues myself) and we are involved charitably in several local animal rescue organizations. I'm also a dedicated duffer having played the game of golf for more than 35 years. Not particularly great at the game, but love to play.
