How did you build a successful practice?
I started out practicing law with a multi-national firm in downtown Dallas doing complex tax litigation.  After two years working on behalf of corporations, I wanted to shift my focus and help real people, so I set out on my own.  Family law cases were the perfect fit - good folks going through some of the worst times in their lives. There is no substituted for getting to the office earlier and working harder to make sure the other side is never more prepared than us for mediation, hearings, or final trial. Most of all, being successful means this to me – treating clients the way I would want to be treated. Results matter. How you get there matters.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?  
Find someone who listens, not someone who does all the talking. Finding a qualified family law attorney in Dallas is step one, but finding one that understands your unique circumstances is the key. Look for an attorney who is more interested in you than trying to impress you.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Knowing what makes each judge “tick” is so important. Judges are people and they all have unique personalities, backgrounds, experiences and pet peeves. Having had cases in the past with opposing counsel is just as important in planning a strategy to resolve your case quickly and efficiently.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
We put our client’s interests and goals first. Period. We tell our clients what we really think, not what they may want to hear.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Taking on a client who feels defeated from the start – perhaps full of fear, remorse, guilt - giving them reason to believe things will work out, and then executing a plan that accomplishes their goals.

What are your other interests in addition to law?
Baylor football, golf, dove hunting.
