A client owed the IRS over $200,000 in back taxes, but was disabled and can't work. The IRS continued their collection efforts and levies despite his inability to pay. He also has many other debts. We filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy for him, and we were able to discharge the $211,000 in IRS taxes, so they can never collect it from him. In a second case, a single mom with 3 kids was 1 day away from foreclosure and losing her home. We were able to work out a repayment through a Chapter 13 bankruptcy that met her budget, and allowed her to keep her house. All attempts to work out something with the bank were denied, but the bankruptcy rules required them to do what they refused to do directly with the homeowner.
