Ms. Nielsen received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Texas. Elizabeth graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, where she served on the Editorial Board of the St. Mary’s Law Journal. Ms. Nielsen has been licensed for 18 years and limits her practice exclusively to family law. Elizabeth Nielsen is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Elizabeth handles all areas of family law. Ms. Nielsen has assisted clients in the resolution of cases through mediation and informal settlements. I appealed a CPS case and was able to obtain a reversal for a jury trial for the client when the jury trial was previously denied.
How did you build a successful practice?I have built a successful practice by working within my client's budget to be cost conscious for them while at the same time working to provide them with a result that will be in the best interest of the children involved (if they have children) or in the best interest of the client going forward. I try to think about what will benefit my clients not only right now, but in the future as well.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?I believe that clients need to feel comfortable with the lawyer they choose to represent them. They need to trust the attorney's judgment and knowledge. They need to believe that the attorney will tell them what is in the interest of the client and not in the interest of the attorney making money.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?In a community like Denton, knowledge of the town, the judges and how to behave in each court is extremely important. I have practiced here my entire career, and practice almost exclusively family law in Denton County.
