Please include all relevant details from your case including where, when, and who it involves. Case details that can effectively describe the legal situation while also staying concise generally receive the best responses from lawyers.

Patrick Quinn is a practicing criminal defense lawyer in Ohio. Before graduating from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 1976, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 1972. He also received his Executive MBA from Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1976.

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I represented a CDL license holder. He drove a milk truck for years. He was a good father, a good worker, who went to a fundraiser for a family who had suffered some ten-ible medical problems. On the way home he got pulled over and charged with an OVI. If he would be convicted, he would lose his CDL, his job, and would not be able to support his family. We had to fight hard. We filed a motion to suppress the field sobriety tests, the probable cause for the arrest and the breath test. After the hearing we were able to throw out the field sobriety tests which meant there was no probable cause to arrest and the breath test was thrown out. My client has his job, his CDL, and life is good. I also represented a young man who I helped with OVI and criminal charges due to being a heroin addict. During our case, I was able to help him get help for his addiction. He did relapse, but he kept trying and was clean and sober. He wanted custody of his minor daughter because the mother was still actively using. It was difficult, but after a long legal battle and trial, we were successful. He has custody of his daughter. My client is working, remains clean and sober, and he and his daughter are doing well.

How did you build a successful practice?

I took the time to educate myself at my own expense to become an expert in all aspects of OVI cases. I was determined to be more knowledgeable and have better skills than prosecutors. It took over three years but I became an expert in blood, urine, liquid and sold drugs, field sobriety testing and breath machines. I wanted to have the skills to successfully defend clients charged with alcohol and drug related offenses. My success is not only in getting good results for my clients (70% of the time I am able to get OVI charges reduces or dismissed) but in helping those who are alcoholics/addicts get the help they need to live sober lives. Because I am an alcoholic who has been sober for over 20 years, I can help my clients get their lives back on track if they are willing and want help.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I will discuss the case fully, analyze the best approach to your defense, identify weaknesses in the prosecutor's case and propose ways to defend your case to get the best result possible.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

I need to know why you were stopped, time of stop, what your response was when the police turned on their lights, how long it took and how you pulled over. What conversation you had with the police while you were in the car. What you drank and ate over what period of time. If you performed any tests in the car. If you were asked to exit your vehicle to perform tests. What tests you performed. Did you take a breath test. Were you read the BMV 2255. Were you read your rights when you were arrested. Do you work, where, hours. Where is your car. Do you have insurance. I need to get your car released and you driving as soon as possible to save your job.

Adverse possession is the legal concept that if the owner of the land isn’t using it, and someone else is giving the land a useful purpose for long enough, the law favors the useful purpose over the land being left unused.
