How did you build a successful practice?

I have built my practice on a dedication to understanding the facts and law applicable to each case, being aggressive when appropriate or necessary, and in being prepared to take each case to trial (thereby enhancing the settlement positions of my clients). I successfully blend backgrounds in finance and accounting, corporate law, litigation, tax, bankruptcy, insurance, real estate and family law to achieve the best possible results for my clients.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

I encourage prospective clients to consider counsel who have both specific and broad legal and non-legal experience, counsel whose personality will facilitate what the client is attempting to achieve, and counsel whom the client respects, not only as a lawyer, but as a person.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge can be quite important to the success of a case. Judges and Magistrates are human, they have their own personalities, their own predispositions, and want to see cases presented in certain ways specific to them. While not wanting to overstate the matter, knowledge of Judges and Magistrates before whom you practice can be very important.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I believe what differentiates me from other lawyers in the community, especially in the area of family law, is my strong desire to assist my clients from being taken advantage of by the opposing party or their counsel, my preparation (knowledge of the facts, substantive law (family, real estate, tax, procedural law and rules of evidence), and my extensive background in both the business and non-business aspects of cases.
