Mr. Montgomery has represented clients at trial in the District and Superior Courts of Massachusetts and the United States District Court. He has also handled matters before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and the Department of Industrial Accidents Practice Areas Mr. Montgomery has a range of experience in representing both plaintiffs and defendants in actions involving municipal liability, professional liability, business disputes, automobile tort, lead paint exposure, and products liability. Mr. Montgomery has obtained the pre-trial dismissal of a suit brought against a non-profit organization sued for the unlawful sexual assaults of a volunteer with no prior history of similar behavior. He also obtained summary judgment on behalf of a pediatrician based on stale claims. In his medical professional liability practice, Mr. Montgomery has obtained a jury verdict in excess of $400,000 on behalf of a client who sustained a permanent nerve injury as the result of mal-positioning during routine surgery. Mr. Montgomery has used pre-trial practice and mediation to obtain substantial awards for numerous clients, including $700,000 for a stroke victim wrongfully advised by a prominent cardiac surgeon to discontinue anti-coagulants for an extended period of time prior to surgery. Education Mr. Montgomery is a graduate of Dartmouth College. He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Vermont Law School in 1996. Professional and Community Affiliations Mr. Montgomery is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit. He is a member of the Supreme Judicial Court Historical Society and a member of the Board of Directors of Partners for Youth With Disabilities, a non-profit group that provides mentoring services to disabled youth. | |
