Ms. Williams enrolled in law school after her brother's crushing trial and incarceration. She earned academic recognition in trial practice in addition to other areas of law, and was chosen by the law school's graduating class as commencement speaker. After two standing ovations for Rawsi's speech "Lead Through Service," FL Attorney General, Pam Bondi stood before the entire assembly and requested Rawsi work for her office. Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Williams had over 20 year's health care experience beginning in the Army, and is still a Registered Nurse. She is Florida's only attorney who is a state-approved ALF Core Trainer, AFCH Trainer, and Certified ALF Administrator. She has worked in vast clinical, administrative, management, and consulting roles, and possesses multiple credentials. She authored the exclusive Long-Term Care Legal Nurse Consultant (LTCLNC) certification, and still provides training in our online Caduceus Gavel center.

Ms. Williams is admitted in State and Federal Courts, and has successfully represented clients statewide. She intentionally serves you in the practice areas which affected her life personally and professionally at the boutique office of Rawsi Williams Law Group.

Due to the pain and vulnerability her family endured when undergoing her brother's trial and incarceration, Ms. Williams knows firsthand the helpless feeling of walking in your shoes. Accordingly, she not only brings textbook knowledge but also personal insight to her fiercely passionate litigation of your interests. She and her Co-Counsel vehemently fight for you, whether it's litigating to verdict or obtaining dismissal of the charges. Her diverse clientele have written testimonials, sent flowers, and thank-you letters praising her representation. It's her PURPOSE to fight for your justice. Contact her now.

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Criminal Defense: Saved a new father, who was a previously convicted felon, from going to prison after his prior counsel of 5 months was unable to do so. The father had been charged with multiple charges. He was already a convicted felon, and was looking at 15 years in prison. He'd also just been awarded primary custody of his children. He did not want to return to prison at any cost, so he wanted to negotiate a plea deal where he was would not serve any jail/prison time, even if it meant house arrest. But the prosecutor wasn't budging. He wouldn't entertain any plea deals which did not include prison time, and the client's current attorney of 5 months was unable to make any leeway. The family retained Ms. Williams, who had never lost a criminal defense case. This means she'd never had a client convicted or receive a guilty verdict; placed on probation; withhold; suspended sentence; no contest plea; guilty plea; placed on GPS monitoring/house arrest/community control.Ms. Williams had become an attorney afterHERbrother's conviction and incarceration, so she knew how it felt to be on the other side of the desk... vulnerable and helpless. At first, Ms. Williams declined the case because she felt it was winnable and didn't want to plead, but the clientONLYwanted a negotiated plea deal. Finally, they convinced Ms. Williams to take the case. In less than one month, after passionate aggressive negotiations with the prosecutor, Ms. Williams got the client what he wanted so he could stay with his children:NOPrison/Jail time! And, she got him more than what he wanted:NOhouse arrest;NOGPS monitoring/Community Control, and release from probation in 2 1/2 years! He's a #happycamper, working full-time and taking care of his children, referring other friends and family to Ms. Williams.

How did you build a successful practice?

Through Trial and Error, Error, Error! Building a business is hard. Building a law practice is harder. Building a law practice with a specific purpose to serve the less-affluent while still having to pay your own bills is hardest. Building a law practice with a specific purpose to serve the less-affluent while still having to pay your own bills when you could easily make millions based on your credentials by serving the more affluent isTHEhardest. Ms. Williams fits that last category. A Registered Nurse who began her health care career while serving in the Army, only to become an attorney over 20 years later, after her brother was incarcerated, her health care credentials alone were enough for her to demand the big bucks and work inBig Law. Through his incarceration, her purpose revealed itself. She knew her PURPOSE was to serve those whom she believed to be the victims of injustice and disparities in the criminal and civil justice systems. So, she hung out her shingle to do just that. Many times, it was hard because these clients couldn't afford the $350-$450/hour fees. Most times, they couldn't afford a $2,500 flat fee. The dilemma was how to help them and still run a financially solvent practice, because overhead and personal bills don't pay themselves just because you're trying to do good deeds. Additionally, Ms. Williams' faith played an integral role in her life, and it was important that she maintain the highest ethics, even beyond what the Bar required. Finally, a lot of the clients were unappreciative of all of the good will they were receiving; paying the least but being the most demanding. Many times, law colleagues encouraged Rawsi to increase her fees substantially and to stop taking "high maintenance" clients who were paying low-ball fees. There were so many times when Rawsi almost just threw in the towel and went to work for a firm, but her PURPOSE just wouldn't let her.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

That he or she WANTS to represent you, not just for the money, but because they believe in you, your case, or both.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

Based on the presented facts combined with my knowledge and review of any applicable documents and dockets, I can tell the client: whether I will accept the case, potential outcomes or available remedies depending on the type of case pros and cons of each, my fee, set an appointment to start working on their case, because time is always critical.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I've walked in my client's shoes! Because I became an attorney due to and after my brother's incarceration, I KNOW how it feels to be helpless, vulnerable, angry, and just plain tired of dealing with the legal system. I've been the person on the other side of the desk. Every practice area that I represent is one that has affected my life personally or professionally.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

When I win for my clients. Getting them what they wanted, or exceeded their expectations, makes it all worthwhile.

Adverse possession is the legal concept that if the owner of the land isn’t using it, and someone else is giving the land a useful purpose for long enough, the law favors the useful purpose over the land being left unused.
