I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1992 with a degree in Criminal Justice. I graduated from William Mitchell College of law in 1996 Magna Cum Laude. I worked very hard in law school, winning the Moot Court Competition, as well as winning the Burton Brief Award.

After law school I worked in family law and criminal law. In 1999 I was hired by one of the largest bankruptcy law firms in Minnesota to help develop their practice. Later, in 2001 I was hired by the largest bankruptcy law firm in Minnesota. In 2004 I struck out on my own doing bankruptcy and have enjoyed every minute of it.

My approach with clients is to be upfront with them, and to educate them, so they know exactly what is going on with their case. I want clients to understand bankruptcy, to understand the process, and to understand how they will benefit from the process.

I am accessible. When clients call or email me I respond promptly. I want us to be on the same page. Open communication between us is important. This approach works. Most  of my new clients are referrals from former clients.

I have been very successful representing my clients. I have two reported decisions (many attorneys go an entire career without getting any!) Those decisions are: In re Bailey, 425 B.R. 825 (2010), United States Bankruptcy Court, D. Minnesota; and in Re Savage, 426 B.R. 320 (2010), United States Bankruptcy Court, D. Minnesota.

I have dealt with every Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Trustee in the metro area many many times. They know me and I know them.

I know how the bankruptcy system in Minnesota works in great detail. I have even helped formulate the rules of the game by previously serving on the Bankruptcy Practice Committee for the District of Minnesota, and before that, serving on the Bankruptcy Rules Committee for the District of Minnesota.
