Scott L. Harper, Attorney

Scott L. Harper has lived the majority of his life in California's Central Valley. He was born in Lodi, California in 1961, to a farmer and the daughter of a railroad engineer.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Harper worked in the computer and agricultural industries. He also assisted both of his parents in their individual small businesses.

Mr. Harper graduated from the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law in 1991. While at McGeorge, he was selected to the Moot Court Honors Board as well as McGeorge's Trial Advocacy Team. He was appointed as Student Supervisor of the Victims of Crime Resource Center and was a staff writer for its quarterly publication. Mr. Harper was also a staff writer for The Owens Project on Civil Procedure and was a guest lecturer at Stanford and the University of California at Berkeley.

Prior to joining Brown, Hall, Shore & McKinley, Mr. Harper practiced for 13 years in Kern County, California. Mr. Harper's practice focuses on the litigation of tort and business matters. He also serves as litigation counsel for self-insured corporations. He is a member of the California State and San Joaquin County Bar Associations.  He is also a member of the 2007-2008 class of Leadership Stockton. He is past President of the Kern County Victim Witness Auxillary and a former member of the Kern County Domestic Violence Task Force.  Mr. Harper and his wife, Kathryn, have three children Matthew, Kelly and Joseph. The Harpers are active in their church and enjoy traveling. Mr. Harper also enjoys woodworking and coaching youth baseball.
