William B. VanLonkhuyzen, Attorney

William B. VanLonkhuyzen was born in Portland, Maine, in 1964 and joined thefirm in 1995.  He graduated from Amherst College in 1986 and from theUniversity of Chicago Law School, with honors, in 1992.  Mr. VanLonkhuyzenconcentrates his practice in the areas of criminal defense, domestic relationsand personal injury law.  He regularly appears in both state and federalcourts at the trial and appellate levels.  Recently, Mr. VanLonkhuyzennegotiated a large settlement in a wrongful death claim against the Big Dig, wona jury trial in state superior court regarding the wrongful cutting of trees,and was co-counsel in a federal telemarketing fraud case which resulted in a notguilty for the client.  Mr. VanLonkhuyzen also has recent experiencerepresenting convicted sex offenders before the Sex Offender Registry Board andmilitary personnel faced with a court-martial.  On the appellate side, Mr.VanLonkhuyzen successfully challenged the constitutionality of the MassachusettsControlled Substances Tax and defended that decision on appeal to the SupremeJudicial Court and successfully defended a federal district court jury verdictwhich was appealed to the First Circuit Court of Appeals.  Mr.VanLonkhuyzen is a member of the California and Massachusetts bars and is amember of the Northern District of California, District of Massachusetts andFirst Circuit federal courts.  He is also a member of the MassachusettsAssociation of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Massachusetts Lesbian and GayBar Association.
