Internet Banking vs. Traditional Banking

How Internet Banking Works

Having an account through an internet bank is similar to having the account at a traditional bank – you are able to deposit money, make payments, view statements, etc.  However, with an internet bank you are doing all of these transactions online or over the phone.  There is no local branch for you to visit to handle your accounts or ask questions.  Everything is done with a few computer keystrokes.

Internet banking is becoming more and more popular as consumers turn to the internet for more things.  This service also has many advantages over a traditional bank, including fewer fees.  They also send less information (statements or solicitations) through traditional mail since 95% of correspondence is handled through the web.

What Internet Banks Do

Internet banks provide most of the same services as other banks or credit unions.  You can establish a checking or savings account to hold your money and make payments or purchases.  Some Internet banks even offer assistance in managing and tracking your finances.  You can set up automatic bill payments and reminders to help you with recurring monthly bills.

Internet banking is a great option for people who travel frequently.  As long as they have a computer and an Internet connection, they can access their bank accounts and funds.
