Ms. Robinson is a native Washingtonian and holds Law and Engineering degrees from Howard University. She provides legal counseling to businesses regarding matters such as contracts, trademarks, HR policy, tax disputes and business development with a focus on asset protection and limiting liability exposure. Ms. Robinson has represented companies through various phases of litigation in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Federal courts, as well as before the IRS and other administrative boards. She also served as a Resource Partner for the Prince George's County Center for Minority Business Development for 5 years, providing legal assistance to growth-mode businesses in the County. Ms. Robinson also counsels individual Clients in divorce, child custody, adoption and estate planning matters. In addition to her private law practice, Ms. Robinson serves as a Hearing Examiner for DC's Child & Family Services Agency where she presides over appeals of Child Protection Registry abuse and neglect entries; adoption and guardianship subsidy modifications; foster and group home licensing revocations; and foster child placement changes. She notes that being in the position of the decision maker in such cases greatly influences her perspective as a lawyer-advocate in representing her own litigation and transactional Clients. Prior to her firm’s organization in 2005, Ms. Robinson was an Associate with Beveridge & Diamond, P.C., with an environmental and land use practice, and with the preeminent firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP with an intellectual property and litigation practice. Prior to obtaining her law degree, Ms. Robinson worked as a Civil Engineer. In that capacity, she worked extensively with the District of Columbia's Water and Sewer Authority and the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, as well as with other municipalities and private industries. She also worked for Mobil Oil Corporation where she managed commercial construction projects, and for the Prince George's County, Maryland Watershed Protection Branch. Through her educational and professional experiences Ms. Robinson has achieved not only technical and legal capabilities, but a talent for applying a thoughtful, client-oriented, bottom-line approach to every matter she handles and boasts a high client retention rate.

Lawyer.com Member Questionnaire

Please describe a case(s) in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I recently represented a mother in what should have been a relatively straightforward divorce that became very complicated because she was reluctant to assert even reasonable demands for herself and her daughter in negotiating with her husband. And this was even though she had been the primary breadwinner in the relationship, and supported her husband's failing business ventures. I continued to remind her that she is fighting for her daughter’s future as well as her own wellbeing. Then, by being patient and understanding about how difficult the entire process was for her, and serving as an intermediary between her and her husband, I was able to negotiate and finalize a settlement agreement that was very fair in the end. She sent me the nicest thank you card after the divorce was finalized and it is still on my bookcase.

How did you build a successful practice?
I have built a successful law practice—including maintaining a high client retention rate—by making every client feel important and keeping them well-informed about the status of their cases and the legal implications of their business dealings.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should expect responsive, highly skilled, thorough legal representation from someone who sincerely cares about their cases. You cannot achieve a successful result for a client by simply going through the motions.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
I enjoy helping people successfully through difficult, confusing times. I also enjoy being part of the decision making process for so many DC area business and service providers.

What are your other interests in addition to law?
In my spare time I enjoy being a mom to my daughter, a cat, and two Jack Russell Terriers. I also enjoy distance biking, and all things sci-fi. You might occasionally catch me at a local comedy club's open mic night too!

Are you involved in your community?
I am active in the legal community by lecturing at my law school and volunteering at DC Bar business law clinics. I also am a member and Technology Chairperson of the Ladies of the Twelve Days of Christmas-DC Chapter, which raises money to purchase substantial school supplies, clothes and holiday gifts for children in need. I am a life-long animal welfare advocate as well.

  • Premium Transit Services, Inc. v. MTA, MSBCA 2530 (Oct. 2, 2007).
Ms. Robinson achieved a significant victory as lead attorney before the Maryland State Board of Contract Appeals (MSBCA) on behalf of a brake parts manufacturer in a contract dispute against the Maryland Transit Authority. The MSBCA awarded contract damages against MTA for wrongful termination and breach of a blanket contract for brake shoe assemblies. Among other things, the Board found that PTS reasonably interpreted the contract at issue as a standard “core exchange” (versus “outright buy”) contract and that MTA had reason to know of the interpretation; that MTA used outdated part information from the bus manufacturer in preparing the contract specifications, but refused to make equitable adjustments once the error was realized after contract award; and that MTA, in violation of state procurement requirements to provide fair and equal treatment in the bidding process, engaged in unilateral discussions with other suppliers both before and after contract award to PTS. The Board also stated that “MTA owes a debt of gratitude to PTS” for its attempts to comply with the flawed contract provisions as long as it did before ultimately filing its complaint. The Board rules in favor of contractors in only about 15 to 25% of the cases it hears.
