Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

My son, Bradley Floyd, and I represented the Bank of North Carolina in a Foreclosure and Collection Action where there were counterclaims of Fraudulent Inducement and Negligent Misrepresentation against the Bank. The Defendant was Senator Ray Cleary who was the former Chairman of Beach First which was acquired by BNC. The jury returned a verdict for BNC in the amount of $2,906,789.00 and denied Senator Cleary's counterclaims. On a personal level it was very special trying a case with my son in his first jury trial. See the attached article on the case in Lawyers Weekly.

How did you build a successful practice?

After 52 years practicing law, the cornerstone in building a long and lasting relationship with our clients and their families is trust. The more people get to know and see the real person, the more likely they are to extend their trust. We strive to be compassionate, reliable and capable in service to our clients, so that they will know we do what is right, deliver what is promised and be the same person every time whatever the circumstances.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

With all the advances in technology, people now have heightened expectations regarding everything, including personal service. The one thing a computer can't do is hold the client's hand in times of crisis, be there when they need us and provide thoughtful and helpful advice. Our goal is not to treat clients the way we want to be treated, but instead we treat them the way they expect to be treated. Our goal is to meet and exceed their expectations.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge as well as good common sense is important to the success of our client's cases. Understanding the people involved, Judges and juries is important in deciding the course of action we recommend to our clients in their cases. Also, being versed in business, property matters, finance as well as litigation enables us to better represent our clients.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

In an initial phone consultation it depends on the type of case and complexity of the facts as to what information you can furnish to person asking for advice.
