Daniel W. Uhlfelder is a second generation Florida native raised in Tallahassee, Florida who attended Leon County's public schools. He has a general practice law firm located on Scenic Highway 30-A in Walton County, Florida. He is also the Founder and Managing Member of A Preferred Title, LLC, a title company located in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

Mr. Uhlfelder graduated from Stanford University in two and half years with a B.A. in History in 1993. After graduating from Stanford, Mr. Uhlfelder attended the University of Florida College of Law and the Georgetown University Law Center as visiting law student. Mr. Uhlfelder received his J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law in 1996.

While in law school and as an undergraduate, Mr. Uhlfelder served a law clerk, summer associate and staff aide in the White House, the United States Attorney General, the United States Senate, the United States House of Representatives, and at various law firms in Florida and Washington, D.C. including Greenberg Traurig, LLP, Hopping, Green & Sams, P.A., Robert Augustus Law Firm, P.A.

After graduating from law school, Mr. Uhlfelder served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Donald M. Middlebrooks, United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of Florida in Miami, Florida. After completing his judicial clerkship with Judge Middlebrooks, Mr. Uhlfelder spent two years as a trial attorney with a top trial law firm, Colson, Hicks, Eidson in Miami. Mr. Uhlfelder handled products liability, personal injury, commercial, and criminal matters while working at Colson, Hicks, Eidson.

Mr. Uhlfelder moved to Northwest Florida in 2001. Mr. Uhlfelder handles a wide variety of legal matters for business and individuals in Northwest Florida. His practice focuses primarily in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, construction litigation, employment and civil rights litigation, real estate, personal injury, and criminal law.

He is also a member, agent for the Attorneys' Title Insurance Fund and The First American Corporation. He is the first non-minority member of the Okaloosa County Branch of the NAACP serving as Chair of the Legal Redress Committee. He was recently awarded the NAACP's Foot Soldier in the Sand Award by the NAACP for his work in the area of civil rights.

Mr. Uhlfelder is actively involved in his community serving as attorney for the Catherine Cole Taylor Center for the Arts, member of the Sandestin Lions' Club, and other local organizations.

Mr. Uhlfelder is admitted to practice before all federal courts in the State of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He has appeared in federal and state courts throughout the state of Florida.

Mr. Uhlfelder is married to Michelle Uhlfelder and they have one child together.

Physician Obtains Downward Modification to Alimony Obligation
In a post-judgment divorce action, a physician was successful in obtaining a downward modification to his alimony obligation due to a substantial decrease in his income.  The parties were divorced back in 2007, and pursuant to the judgment of dissolution, the husband was required to pay alimony to the wife in the amount of $6,000 per month for a period of eleven months, followed by $5,000 per month thereafter.  The amount of the alimony obligation was modifiable upon a substantial change in circumstances in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes § 46b-86.
In Post Judgment Divorce Action, Court Determines that $1.2 Million Payment to Husband was Income, Not Liquidation of an Asset
In a post-judgment decision rendered, the Superior Court of Fairfield at Bridgeport addressed whether a payment that a husband received from his employer after the parties’ divorce constituted an asset or, alternatively, income.  The parties in this action obtained an uncontested divorce in 2008.  As part of their separation agreement, the husband was obligated to pay the wife child support in the amount of $1,600.00 per month.
Child Care Costs and the Connecticut Child Support Guidelines
In a decision rendered previously, the Connecticut Appellate Court explained the definition of “child care costs” as set forth in the Connecticut Child Support Guidelines.  In that particular case, the parties were married for approximately five years and were the parents of two minor children.  During the year of 2003, they entered into a custody stipulation which was subsequently incorporated into a comprehensive separation agreement.  The separation agreement provided that the husband would pay the wife $2,500 per month in unallocated alimony and child support for a period of five years, followed by straight child support.
