A graduate of Saint Johns University, Dennis Patrick Moriarty attended William Mitchell College of Law, received his Juris Doctor in 1973, and entered the practice of law with Jerome Jaspers at 206 Scott Street, Shakopee, MN. Moriarty is quick to point out that the 19th Century building in which they established their firm originally served as a saloon and hotel, suggesting that people have been getting and giving advice in that location for over a century. .

In 1974 Moriarty was elected Scott County Attorney, where he had the responsibility of not only advising the County on all civil matters, but also the duty to prosecute all criminal cases, from petty misdemeanors to gross misdemeanors and felonies. During his tenure as Scott County Attorney, Moriarty established himself as a trial lawyer, representing Scott County in both State and Federal Courts, litigating civil issues involving condemnation, real estate, and land use as well as prosecuting criminal cases from misdemeanors to murder. He also conducted several Grand Jury investigations into both criminal and civil matters.

At the conclusion of his four-year term as Scott County Attorney, Moriarty returned to private practice with his law partner, Jerome Jaspers forming the firm of Jaspers, Moriarty & Walburg, P.A., and established a practice with a strong emphasis in personal injury, criminal defense, family law and estate planning.

With the increase in the size of the firm, Jaspers, Moriarty and Walburg, P.A, expanded their practice into real estate transactions, corporate law and business law while also serving as counsel for municipalities, handling litigation and providing advice on legal matters coming before various governmental bodies.

At the present time Moriarty focuses primarily on litigation, spending a large percentage of his time in courtrooms, arguing cases before Minnesota District Courts, as well as the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court.
