Mr. Blake has nearly 30 years of trial experience in a wide range of lawsuits.  His accomplishments include numerous favorable jury verdicts on behalf of clients in state and federal courts throughout Michigan .  He has successfully represented small business owners and Fortune 500 companies against a wide variety of claims and obtained defense verdicts in a variety of cases including the following:

  • a wrongful death case against an international restaurant chain alleging food contamination;
  • a wrongful death case of a child filed against a private apartment management firm;
  • catastrophic electrical burn injury cases involving electrical equipment manufacturers;
  • denial of a class certification sought by hundreds of residential property owners as a result of flooding in basements because of a defectively designed and constructed waste water sewage system;
  • cases alleging permanently disabling injuries as a result of defectively designed, manufactured and constructed elevator systems for an international elevator company;
  • wrongful death and personal injury cases alleging defective design and manufactured products including outdoor power equipment, power tools, home appliances, sports and playground equipment and apparel.


    Mr. Blake earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from John Carroll University in 1970, a Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of Detroit in 1973 and a Juris Doctor degree from the Detroit College of Law in 1976.  He is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Michigan, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of the State of Michigan , and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.


    • Mr. Blake is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, Products Liability Committee; Defense Research Institute; Michigan Defense Trial Counsel; Association of Defense Trial Counsel; the American Board of Trial Advocates; and the Metropolitan Detroit and Macomb County Bar Associations.  He has been certified as a general/civil case mediator by the State Bar of Michigan, and he is on the list of approved mediators in the Wayne, Oakland and Macomb County Circuit Courts.
