She received a Jamaican Diaspora Lumina Award in honor of Jamaicaโ€™s 50th anniversary of independence in Miami in 2012; was named Change Maker of the month in honor of Caribbean-American Heritage month in June, 2013 by Caribbean Riddims; and Legacy Magazine named her One of South Floridaโ€™s 25 Most Influential & Prominent Black Women in Leadership for 2014. Dahlia is a past president of the Caribbean Bar Association and the first female president of the association. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association; the American Bar Association; Alpha Academy Alumnae Association, (Florida and Jamaica chapters); and The National Association of Professional Women. Dahlia is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Council of Bar Association Presidents. Dahlia is the founder and the former first president of The Jamaican Women of Florida (JWOF), Inc., in 2013, a Non-Profit organization designed to provide an outlet for Jamaican women in Florida to empower themselves through charitable and educational outreach, mentoring and personal development.
