John grew up in Reading, Massachusetts. He graduated from Reading Memorial High School in 1982. He attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst from 1982 to 1986. Upon completing college, John entered Suffolk University Law School in the fall of 1986. He graduated from Suffolk University Law School, cum laude, in 1989. John was sworn into the Bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1989. In 2005, he  was sworn into the Bar of the State of New Hampshire. John was sworn into The Supreme Court of the United States in 2009. John has served as a Conciliator for the Superior Court of Essex County since 2005.

 

              From 1990 to 2001, John was an Associate with Gargano and Associates, P.C., in Cambridge, MA. During his tenure with that firm, John represented clients in a wide array of legal matters. He handled personal injury cases ranging from car accidents, to construction site accidents, to fires and explosions, to complex product liability. His clients had injuries ranging from soft tissue, to fractures, to burns, to traumatic brain injuries. John gained experience as a criminal defense attorney representing clients that were charged with crimes in the District and Superior Courts of the Commonwealth. John was also called upon to represent clients for a number of different business related issues, including business formation and commercial litigation, and real estate matters. John gained invaluable trial experience during his time in Cambridge. He tried more than thirty jury trial and numerous bench trials.   

 

            In May of 2001, Carol-Ann T. Fraser and John C. Fraser formed Fraser Law Office LLP. Fraser Law Office LLP assists individuals and businesses with all their legal needs. Whether it is a personal injury case, criminal case, real estate issue or business related matter, Fraser Law Office LLP is and always will be qualified and equipped to well represent its clients. Fraser Law Office LLP maintains an active trial practice in both civil and criminal matters.

 

John lives in Andover, Massachusetts with his wife and their three children. He is active in the community and coaches hockey, soccer, and softball.

Physician Obtains Downward Modification to Alimony Obligation
In a post-judgment divorce action, a physician was successful in obtaining a downward modification to his alimony obligation due to a substantial decrease in his income.  The parties were divorced back in 2007, and pursuant to the judgment of dissolution, the husband was required to pay alimony to the wife in the amount of $6,000 per month for a period of eleven months, followed by $5,000 per month thereafter.  The amount of the alimony obligation was modifiable upon a substantial change in circumstances in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes § 46b-86.
In Post Judgment Divorce Action, Court Determines that $1.2 Million Payment to Husband was Income, Not Liquidation of an Asset
In a post-judgment decision rendered, the Superior Court of Fairfield at Bridgeport addressed whether a payment that a husband received from his employer after the parties’ divorce constituted an asset or, alternatively, income.  The parties in this action obtained an uncontested divorce in 2008.  As part of their separation agreement, the husband was obligated to pay the wife child support in the amount of $1,600.00 per month.
Child Care Costs and the Connecticut Child Support Guidelines
In a decision rendered previously, the Connecticut Appellate Court explained the definition of “child care costs” as set forth in the Connecticut Child Support Guidelines.  In that particular case, the parties were married for approximately five years and were the parents of two minor children.  During the year of 2003, they entered into a custody stipulation which was subsequently incorporated into a comprehensive separation agreement.  The separation agreement provided that the husband would pay the wife $2,500 per month in unallocated alimony and child support for a period of five years, followed by straight child support.
