About Laurann
Laurann Asklof joined the Construction Litigation Practice Group at Gordon, Muir and Foley, LLP in 2001. She received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1982. She earned her law degree from Albany Law School of Union University in 1985. Laurann began her litigation career in a large and subsequently a medium insurance defense firm in New York City where she practiced for six years in the areas of products liability, medical malpractice, and construction law. Prior to joining Gordon, Muir and Foley, LLP, Laurann was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Connecticut as a construction litigator involved in multimillion dollar construction projects, representing the Department of Transportation, Department of Public Works and Department of Administrative Services, where she gained expertise in the construction litigation field, practicing in all litigation forums. At Gordon, Muir and Foley, LLP Laurann has expanded her interests in complex technical cases by focusing on the construction industry.
Laurann represents owners, contractors and subcontractors throughout Connecticut . Since joining Gordon, Muir and Foley, LLP, Laurann has been the principal construction litigator for the University of Connecticut 's UCONN 2000 Construction Infrastructure Program. Gordon, Muir and Foley, LLP has had the honor of being chosen as the University of Connecticut 's 21st Century Construction Lead Counsel and Laurann will again be the primary construction litigator for the University. In addition, Laurann has represented the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in their construction litigation matters. Besides representing owners, Laurann has represented subcontractors and contractors in all forums of litigation including Alternative Dispute Resolution processes, and state and federal courts. Laurann is admitted to practice law in the States of Connecticut and New York , the United States District Court of Connecticut and the Southern and Eastern District Courts of New York. Laurann has presented at seminars on the topic of mold in construction and subcontractor payment issues and written On The Cutting Edge of Design for the Connecticut Law Tribune. She has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Connecticut Law School instructing students in the art of appellate writing and oral argument concluding with a mock appellate brief and oral argument. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Construction Law Section Executive Committee; American Bar Association, Construction Law Section; and the Chair of the Mentor Committee of the Professional Women in Construction.
