Paul R. McAdoo, Attorney

Paul R. McAdoo practices in the areas of Media Law, Intellectual Property Law, Commercial Litigation and Arbitration and Entertainment, Art, and Sports Law.

Paul is admitted to the Florida Bar and is a member of the Entertainment, Art and Sports Law, International Law Sections. Paul is also a member of the American Bar Association and its Intellectual Property Section, the Forum on Communications Law, the Young Lawyers Division, and the Forum on Entertainment and Sports Law.

Paul was born in the Big Sky state of Montana and spent his youth living across the United States as a Navy "brat" before finally settling in Florida . He attended Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs and History while graduating cum laude with Liberal Studies Honors. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Golden Key National Honor Societies. After his undergraduate studies, Paul continued his education, earning two Master's degrees, one in Social Science Education and the other in Sports Management.

Following his time in Tallahassee, Paul moved to Tampa . While in Tampa , he worked as a coach, teacher and administrator at three different educational institutions. During this time, he coached the Tampa Prep volleyball team to two state championships and earned two different Coach of the Year awards. After nine years working in the Bay area, Paul decided to "retire" and pursue a second career in law.

Paul graduated cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in December of 2006. While at the University of Florida, he was a member of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court and competed at both the Florida Bar sponsored competition and the 157 team World Competition held in Vienna, Austria . Paul spent one of his summers studying abroad in Rhodes, Greece, at a program run by Tulane University and Aegean Institute of the Law of the Sea and Maritime Law, and the other as a Summer Associate at Thomas & LoCicero.

In addition, Paul presented a paper in 2006 at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Southeast Colloquium entitled The Scope of a Common Law Reporter's Privilege: The Teachings of Jaffee v. Redmond and its Progeny. That presentation resulted in collaboration with Dr. Anthony Fargo of Indiana University's School of Journalism, who also presented at the conference. The outcome of this partnership is the article in the William Mitchell Law Review, Common Law, Shield Law or No Law? Could Rule 501 Solve the Journalist's Privilege Problem? 33 Wm. Mitchell L. Rev. 1347 (2007).

Paul lives in Tampa and takes every chance he can to travel, both domestically and internationally.
