Regina Hollins Lewis, Attorney

Regina Hollins Lewis is a member of the Firm and has nearly 20 years of civil litigation and appellate experience. She practices primarily in the areas of insurance and employment defense and represents companies and individuals in a broad range of claims, including action, for negligence, malicious prosecution, wrongful termination, and federal discrimination claims. She also conducts independent internal investigations on behalf of companies to assess claims of discrimination and other misconduct. Ms. Lewis recently completed a forty-hour mediation training sponsored by the South Carolina Bar and intends to seek certification as a mediator by the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Ms. Lewis received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina in 1984 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland in Baltimore in 1987. Ms. Lewis practiced in the litigation department of a large Maryland corporate defense law firm and subsequently directed a non-profit legal clinic where she represented victims of domestic violence. In 1994, Ms. Lewis was appointed an Assistant Attorney General and in that capacity, represented the Stale of Maryland in various claims, including prisoner litigation, discrimination, federal habeas corpus, and criminal appeals matters. In 1999, Ms. Lewis received the Attorney General's Exceptional Service award for her outstanding representation of the State of Maryland.

Ms. Lewis subsequently relocated back to her home slate of South Carolina and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2000. She was then employed as Special Counsel of a large corporate defense firm and thereafter was elected to membership at the firm. She practiced in the Employment and Labor and Business Litigation practice groups until she formed Gaffiney Lewis & Edwards, LLC along with her partners, Amy L. Gaffney and Susan R. Edwards.

Ms. Lewis' extensive experience has enabled her to consistently obtain positive results for her clients both pretrial, through negotiation and settlement, and at trial. Ms. Lewis is diligent in the representation of her clients and prides herself on maintaining open and consistent communication with all of her clients.

Ms. Lewis is "AV-rated" by Martindale-Hubbell the highest such rating available to any individual lawyer and representing a legal ability of "very high to preeminent." Ms. Lewis served on the faculty of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel's Litigation Management College for the years 2005-2007. She is also an active member of the South Carolina Bar where she has served as Chair of the Judicial Qualifications Committee, is a 2004 graduate of Leadership South Carolina, and a 2007 Fellow of the Liberty Fellowship, a statewide leadership initiative.
