I represented a UPS driver that found himself in the middle of a domestic dispute. He was assaulted and ended up with PTSD. He did not return to work. I was able to get him a workers' compensation award which represented over $1.2 million dollars.
How did you build a successful practice?Referrals from past clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?Aggressive and knowledgeable representation.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?It is very important to know the Iowa Workers' Compensation Deputies (judges). It is important to know if they tend to make higher awards, are tough on work-relatedness etc. That is why it is important to have an attorney that actually tries workers' compensation cases. It is important that the attorney is knowledgeable about changes in legislation that impact injured workers' rights.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?I can explain the workers' compensation system. I have been doing this for over 23 years. I can explain to the client the increased value I bring to their claim
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?Type of injury, location, medical providers and past work history.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?My knowledge and willingness to be aggressive when needed.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?Knowing that I represent the underdog.
What are your other interests in addition to law?Bicycling, traveling, dogs and family.
