I handled a will contest. My client was was one of 6 siblings. Mother's will left everything to my client. The other siblings contested. I was confident in my case because I had also represented the client at the time her mother was ready to sign the will. I gave client suggestions to pass along to her mother to assure the will would be upheld against challenge. This advance planning, more than any litigation tactics, won the case.

Trying to give clients a little extra service on each matter: Answer that last question. Make that additional suggestion. Give that last bit of professionalism.

Clients are entitled to technical competence at a minimum. Just as important is the ability of the lawyer to relate to the client and serve a personal relationship as well as provide legal advocacy.

I have a mostly transactional and planning practice, but for those matters that go to court, my years of experience in the local probate courts enhance my credibility with the judges.

I can provide direction. I can provide fee ranges, or information about the fee basis. I can tell a prospect with confidence whether I can help them.

It helps when the prospective client can describe their matter in an understandable narrative. It shows the client has deliberated on the matter.

I am the only lawyer in this county, and one of less than 30 in the state, certified as a specialist in two fields by the state supreme court. I am a certified specialist in Taxation, and in Estate Planning and Probate. I am proud to have built a strong client base, and built productive relationships with other professional advisors in the area.

The loyalty of clients who have stayed with me for years, some for decades. It's sobering, but gratifying, when so many people depend on you.
