Amy completed her undergraduate work at Mississippi University for Women, graduating in 1995 with a B.A. in English, with honors. While at the “W”, Amy was named the University’s first Eudora Welty Scholar. She received her juris doctor degree from Mississippi College School of Law in 1998 and was admitted to practice in the state of Mississippi. Her practice focuses mainly on workers’ compensation defense, representing employers and carriers in matters before the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission and pursuing subrogation recovery before circuit courts throughout the state, as well as estate matters. Amy was named one of the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 in 2005 and the T. George Kelly volunteer of the year for her work with the Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program of the Bar in 2016. For many years, Amy and her husband Derek have dedicated themselves to their non-profit youth baseball league, the Jackson Ninety-Sixer Baseball Club, assisting and providing access to athletics to disadvantaged youth. She was named NABF’s Woman of Year in 2004 for her dedication to youth baseball. She also currently serves on the St. Joseph Catholic School Advisory Council and is the Director of Youth Music at St. Paul Catholic Church, where she and her family have been parishioners for many years. Amy is the current chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Mississippi Bar and was recently selected by Thomas Reuters to author their Practical Law Guide to Mississippi Workers’ Compensation. She resides in Brandon with her husband, Derek, son, John, and daughter, Mary Lee.

Mr. Jones’s practice includes all types of injuries, and death caused by the negligence of a person or business. Many injuries occur on the roadway, 18-wheeler or trucking wrecks, and car wrecks. His practice also includes slip and fall litigation, motorcycle wrecks, bicycle wrecks, pedestrian wrecks and any other insurance claim involving injuries. Mr. Jones attended the University of Mississippi School of Law. He is admitted to the practice of law in all of the State courts of Mississippi and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi. Mr. Jones attended Belhaven University where he earned an athletic scholarship for the men’s soccer team and obtained a Bachelor of the Sciences in Psychology with a Minor in Business. Mr. Jones has utilized his training in psychology in the courtroom for jury selection, and at the settlement table to seek to understand his opponent.

Courtney graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 2006. She then graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law in December 2008. Upon becoming a licensed attorney in 2009, she began her legal career by joining Markow Walker, P.A. Courtney primarily handles workers’ compensation matters, defending employers and carriers in countless claims before the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission, as well as, appeals to the Mississippi Court of Appeals. In addition, she regularly pursues subrogation recovery on behalf of her clients in state and federal courts throughout Mississippi. She tailors her defense handling of each claim to the preferences and needs of her client. Courtney represents a wide range of employers that span from small local businesses to large nationwide employers. Courtney resides in Madison, Mississippi, with her husband, Jamie, and their daughters, Cassidy and Clara. Courtney is an active member at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, and she is very involved with her children’s school PTO.

Courtney is a native Mississippian, born and raised in Clarksdale. She attended the University of Mississippi and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2007. During her undergraduate career, she was inducted into multiple academic societies, including Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. She was also awarded a Taylor Medal, the highest undergraduate academic award at the University. Courtney went on to attend the University of Mississippi School of Law. In 2010, she graduated cum laude. Courtney became licensed to practice law in the states of Mississippi and Tennessee later that same year. Courtney accepted a position in the Oxford office of Markow Walker, P.A., in April 2011. Courtney’s practice is dedicated to workers’ compensation defense, where she now has over 8 years of experience. Outside of work, Courtney enjoys instructing spin classes, traveling, and spending time with her family and husband, Kevin.

Heber Simmons III, the founder of Simmons Dallas, PLLC, is a lawyer who always remembers whom he represents, and keeps their interests at heart from start to finish. He enjoys time with his family, as well as hunting, fishing, archery, tennis, golf, scuba diving and being an amateur carpenter. Jared Hawkins was born and raised in Belzoni, Mississippi. After completing his undergraduate education at the University of Mississippi in 2008, where he studied mathematics, he furthered his education at Mississippi College School of Law, where he graduated in December 2010. Jared became licensed to practice law in the state of Mississippi in April 2011. He is a member of the Mississippi Bar, and he is admitted to practice before all Mississippi State Courts, as well as the Northern and Southern U.S. District Courts and Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jared accepted a position with Markow Walker, P.A. in 2011. Jared devotes his practice primarily to workers’ compensation defense, which includes handling all matters before the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission, in addition to the Mississippi Court of Appeals and the Mississippi Supreme Court. In order to help educate his clients on current issues and law changes, Jared speaks at seminars routinely and upon request. He also prepares a monthly blog for his clients which pulls the curtain back on his personal life, while giving educational information related to topics in the workers’ compensation arena. After graduating from Southeastern Louisiana University, Jeff obtained his law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2001. He has been with Markow Walker, P.A., for more than fifteen years, and he is the managing shareholder in the firm’s Gulf Coast office. An experienced litigator, Jeff has taken cases to verdict or award in state court, federal court, administrative proceedings and arbitration. He also handles the appellate work associated with these claims and has acted as mediator for other parties in both civil litigation and workers’ compensation matters. His clients include small businesses, corporations, and insurance carriers. His primary practice areas are insurance coverage issues, workers’ compensation, motor vehicle and truck accidents, construction defect, and premises liability. Jeff and his wife, Jennifer, live in Ocean Springs with their children, Noah and Ella. He is a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

John N. Satcher, II focuses his practice primarily on personal injury cases involving automobile, 18 wheeler, and motorcycle accidents as well as litigating wrongful death, medical malpractice, premise liability and product liability cases. John also works extensively in the areas of collection and debtor/creditor law. He has been admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the Untied States District Court for the Northern & Southern Districts of Mississippi and all Mississippi State Courts. Our attorney, John Stevens, began his legal career after graduating from the Mississippi College School of Law in 1989. During his law school years, he served as chief justice on the Mississippi College Honor Court, as well as a staff member for the Mississippi College Law Review.
