After graduating from the University of Virginia Law School in 1975, Mr. Cocke moved to Clarksdale, MS to begin practicing in a general litigation firm. In 1982, Mr. Cocke and Mr. Merkel left that firm and established Merkel & Cocke, P.A., and since that time the emphasis of Mr. Cocke's practice has progressed more and more toward medical malpractice. At the present time his practice is exclusively devoted to handling medical negligence cases for the plaintiff, either as a result of direct contact by the client or as, more commonly occurs, on referral from other attorneys who are not familiar with the handling of medical negligence cases. Mr. Cocke handles all types of medical negligence cases, but a uniform requirement is that serious injury or death have occurred as a result of the medical mistake. Mr. Cocke has established a reputation for complex cases involving babies who sustain permanent brain injuries. He also handles cases involving deaths as a result of the failure to treat in the emergency room setting and the premature discharge of patients after surgery, as well as failure to promptly diagnose cancer. Mr. Cocke has developed a particular interest in the use of modern technology in medical negligence cases and has spoken at seminars on this subject. Mr. Boyd completed his undergraduate studies at Mississippi College in 1981. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Mr. Boyd completed his legal education at Mississippi College School of Law in 1984. During law school, Mr. Boyd was selected to serve as a member of the Editorial Board of the Mississippi College Law Review, and he had a casenote selected for publication in the Fall1983 Law Review. Mr. Boyd is also a “graduate” of the 1996 MiniMed School seminar sponsored by the University Of Mississippi Medical Center. Mr. Boyd devotes most of his legal practice to personal injury and wrongful death claims including car wrecks, 18-wheeler/big truck wrecks, motorcycle wrecks, slip and fall injuries, and UM insurance claims (underinsured and uninsured auto insurance issues).

Shane was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he was educated at St. Aloysius High School. He later attended Millsaps College, before earning his Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Shane began his law career as an associate attorney at Wilkins, Stephens & Tipton in Jackson, Mississippi. In 2003, Shane moved to Columbus, Mississippi, and began working at the Studdard Law Firm. Shane formed the Tompkins Law Firm in 2012 and today, primarily practices in the areas of workers' compensation, personal injury and criminal defense. Professionally, Shane is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Mississippi Public Defender's Association. In addition, he has been the Lowndes County Bar Association President and is currently the Board Attorney for Golden Triangle Waste Services. Shane also serves as the Municipal Court Judge for the City of Aberdeen, Mississippi. Shane is married to Julie Pryse Tompkins. Shane and Julie have two sons, John and Jack. They reside in Columbus, Mississippi.

John N. Satcher, II focuses his practice primarily on personal injury cases involving automobile, 18 wheeler, and motorcycle accidents as well as litigating wrongful death, medical malpractice, premise liability and product liability cases. John also works extensively in the areas of collection and debtor/creditor law. He has been admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the Untied States District Court for the Northern & Southern Districts of Mississippi and all Mississippi State Courts. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, Mississippi Association for Justice, Mississippi Bar Association and Hinds County Bar Association.

Our attorney, John Stevens, began his legal career after graduating from the Mississippi College School of Law in 1989. During his law school years, he served as chief justice on the Mississippi College Honor Court, as well as a staff member for the Mississippi College Law Review. John has been practicing law ever since, amassing nearly three decades of experience.

Mr. Jones’s practice includes all types of injuries, and death caused by the negligence of a person or business. Many injuries occur on the roadway, 18-wheeler or trucking wrecks, and car wrecks. His practice also includes slip and fall litigation, motorcycle wrecks, bicycle wrecks, pedestrian wrecks and any other insurance claim involving injuries. Mr. Jones attended the University of Mississippi School of Law. He is admitted to the practice of law in all of the State courts of Mississippi and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi. Mr. Jones attended Belhaven University where he earned an athletic scholarship for the men’s soccer team and obtained a Bachelor of the Sciences in Psychology with a Minor in Business. Mr. Jones has utilized his training in psychology in the courtroom for jury selection, and at the settlement table to seek to understand his opponent.

After graduating from Southeastern Louisiana University, Jeff obtained his law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2001. He has been with Markow Walker, P.A., for more than fifteen years, and he is the managing shareholder in the firm’s Gulf Coast office. An experienced litigator, Jeff has taken cases to verdict or award in state court, federal court, administrative proceedings and arbitration. He also handles the appellate work associated with these claims and has acted as mediator for other parties in both civil litigation and workers’ compensation matters. His clients include small businesses, corporations, and insurance carriers. His primary practice areas are insurance coverage issues, workers’ compensation, motor vehicle and truck accidents, construction defect, and premises liability. Jeff and his wife, Jennifer, live in Ocean Springs with their children, Noah and Ella. He is a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

After obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi, John attended the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he graduated in 2001. While in law school, he was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Mississippi Law Journal. John has been with Markow Walker, P.A., for over 18 years, and he is a shareholder in the firm’s Oxford office. His practice focuses primarily in the areas of civil litigation and workers’ compensation defense. He has worked extensively in matters involving medical malpractice, appellate work, mass tort, workers’ compensation, and various aspects of insurance defense in tort-related matters. He has lectured on specific topics involving subrogation and defense of employers and carriers in workers’ compensation. John is licensed to practice law in both Mississippi and Tennessee. John is a devoted fan of the Ole Miss Rebels, and he has served as the Vice President of the Ole Miss Quarterback Club. John and his wife, Kimberly, reside in Oxford and enjoy attending Ole Miss sporting events and are members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
