She attended the University of Georgia, and graduated cum laude with a B.B.A. in Business Management and a minor in Spanish. She was a student editor for both the Mercer Law Review and the Journal of Southern Legal History, and clerked for various judges both in and after law school. After selling his brokerage book in 2004, he retired from finance and decided to pursue a career in law.
