Diana graduated Magna Cum Laude from Syracuse University with the class of 1992 and was admitted to practice law in New York a couple of months after graduation. She opened her own “shop” and has been a sole practitioner in Syracuse since. Diana has spent her years in general practice with a great percentage of her time on family law, estate matters, real estate and business transactional work. Practice has always been limited to civil matters. Though there was a respite from practice while she recovered from a traumatic brain injury, Diana spent the latter part of that recovery learning and working with new technology in legal practice and working with attorneys in other states in her practice areas. She found this very helpful in keeping up to date on the changes in the law, differences in out of state laws and how changes might be implemented in her practice. The way law is practiced is changing at a rapid pace with use of fixed fees, virtual meetings as more convenient and various other practice changes to make things more reasonably priced for the client.

A caring and compassionate attorney: For two decades before I became an attorney I worked for some of the largest corporations and government agencies in the world. That meant I had a significant amount of real world experience and unlike many in our field, developed a kind personality along the way. As a senior communications executive I drove strategic communications and crisis management at IBM, JPMorgan, Siemens Healthcare, and Experian. Additionally, I spent six years in Washington, working as a press secretary for two of the most powerful members of the United States Congress. What changed: After a while, I just got tired of working for the nameless, faceless corporations and had enough of the partisan politics of Washington. I decided I wanted to help real people in crisis and focus efforts as a compassionate attorney. And here I am… The most important element in choosing a lawyer is finding the right connection. Divorces can take time. Trusting your attorney is key. Things move a lot smoother if we work well together. Let me be your compassionate attorney. And what better way to get to know me is learn my likes and dislikes. I am a family guy, who enjoys the simple pleasures. Having everyone around the table for dinner is worth a million bucks. I love music – all kinds of music. It is what I use to relax after a long day (with a glass of Scotch, of course). I love food – all kinds of food. My wife is a great cook. I enjoy volunteering in my community. Even though the practice of law keeps me very busy, I still find time to work on giving back. I am a member of the Cold Spring Lions Club, the Our Lady of Loretto Knights of Columbus, United Way of Dutchess County and the Northern Dutchess NAACP. Boy do I hate bullies. And in my line of work I see plenty. I don’t stand for bullies. They better bring their A-Game if they are going to deal with me. I will not stand for my client to be pushed around by their spouse or an opposing attorney. You will not be “nickel and dimed” either. My rates are fair and I will try and work with you. But don’t go crazy here…respect for my time and profession is still required. Prompt payment is much appreciated.

An adoptive parent himself, Gregory Franklin has experienced first-hand the challenges and joys of adopting a child. Adoptions involve a highly emotional area of law in which any legal misstep can cause devastating effects. With more than 20 years of adoption experience, Greg's goal is to develop a legally secure plan that serves the best interests of the child and respects the wishes and interests of both the adoptive parents and the birth parents. Greg works extensively with Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and transgendered clients, and has represented clients in cases which have broken new ground in this area. Greg is passionate about adoptions — he is a frequent lecturer and author on ethics and adoption-related topics and he works tirelessly to achieve a positive result for adoption families. In his representation of birth parents, Greg will assist in locating adoptive parents, negotiating open adoption and post-adoption contact agreements, and coordinating the process with the hospital and the adoptive parents. Greg has considerable experience in the developing area of assisted fertility, including surrogacy and gestational carrier agreements, donor embryos and eggs, and in obtaining parentage and pre-birth orders. Greg also helps to create permanent families through stepparent and co-parent adoptions, grandparent adoptions, extended-family custody agreements, foster care arrangements and international adoptions. He will assist in selecting the right avenue for achieving adoption goals, including the decision about whether to pursue domestic or international adoption, the choice between agency and private adoptions, selecting home study resources, managing subsidy and Adoption Tax Credit issues, and locating post-adoption services.
