Albert moved to St. Paul Minnesota where he attended and graduated from William Mitchell College of Law with a Juris Doctor degree. He was also a member of the William Mitchell Law review for two years. During his law school career, he multitasked as a volunteer for the defense counsel as well as an intern for the honorable judge Hon. Robert Lynn in Hennepin County, primarily working on several high profile cases that involved the 1992 assassination of a Minneapolis police officer Jerome Haaf. Eventually, Albert moved back to the East Coast and settled in Suffolk County. In 2000, he joined the Suffolk County Legal Aid Society as a staff attorney for the Family Law Bureau, where he handled a variety of cases. Along with his casework, he handled his own appeals in a truly dedicated fashion. In 2001, he was transferred to the District Court Bureau where he worked in general trial parts and was ultimately permitted to become a member of the D-35 Felony Team.
