Arkansas Lawyer


Arkansas was established as a territory in 1819, and officially became a state in 1836. Its name translates to the “Land of Opportunity.” The Ouachita National Forest, which is the oldest forest in the southern US, was established in Arkansas by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1907. For nearly a century, from 1874-1967, every Arkansas governor belonged to the Democratic Party.
