Our firm can do intakes via telephone in personal injury cases, workers' compensation, Social Security, Will preparation, Preparation of General Durable Powers of Attorney and medical directives, guardianship/conservatorship, deeds, real estate closing general information, and corporate entity development. A follow up meeting is necessary to conclude and endorse all documents, but our goal is to save the client time. We also offer SKYPE consultations and meetings - including Skype availability for real estate closings (brokers, realtors, any party who may be unable to appear personally).

• Workers' Compensation Settlement, Back Injury -Practice Area: Workers compensation -Outcome: Lump Sum Settlement: $150,000.00. -Description: Employee fell while working in coal mine. Initial injury indicated only a knee injury. Further efforts to obtain medical treatment revealed a back injury. Obtained full compensation benefits and settled for a lump sum amount. Partition Suit - Tazewell County, Virginia -Practice Area: Real estate -Outcome: Judgment for the client with reimbursement of all attorney's fees, costs, taxes paid, and equitable division of the proceeds of sale. -Description: Client and siblings owned certain real estate situate in Tazewell County, Virginia. Client attempted to purchase property and, subsequently, to sell her undivided interest to no avail. The Ratliff Law Firm secured an additional interest from a sibling bringing the client's ownership to 2/3. We then filed a partition suit demanding the sale of the property, reimbursement of costs and attorney's fees, reimbursement of all taxes paid, and equitable division of the proceeds. Workers' Compensation Shoulder Injury from Fall -Practice Area: Workers compensation -Outcome: Full and final settlement reached with the employer and carrier for and on behalf of the client in the amount of $145,000.00. -Description: Client was working as a truck driver. While loading an eighteen wheeler, he feel from the flatbed trailer onto his shoulder causing rotator cuff damage and injury to his shoulder. The Ratliff Law Firm was consulted, identified his entitlement to permanent partial disability under the Virginia statute, and negotiated a full and final settlement.

• PRUETT V. U.S. BANK NAT'L ASS'N
  Plaintiff: Attorney for the plaintiff, Franklin Monroe Pruett. The plaintiff entered into a residential contract of purchase and an addendum to standard purchase contract with the defendant, US Bank National Association. The property he agreed to purchase failed to close and Pruett filed a complaint against the defendant. The defendant's countered that the plaintiff had failed to state a claim and therefor the case should be dismissed. The court agreed and the case was dismissed without prejudice.
