Litigation partner Brian Lysaght is widely regarded as one of the nation's premier jury trial lawyers, focusing on complex commercial litigation in a wide variety of specialties on both the plaintiff and defense side.

Mr. Lysaght received his B.A. degree in Political Science and History from Towson University in 1970, and his M.L.A. from John's Hopkins University in 1971.  He attended the University of California at Davis School of Law and received his J.D. degree in 1974.  While at UC Davis, he was a Member of the Board of Editors, Law Review and graduated Order of the Coif.

After law school, Mr. Lysaght served as law clerk to Associate Justice Stanley Mosk of the California Supreme Court.  He thereafter joined the firm of O'Melveny & Meyers in Los Angeles.  From 1979-82 he was a federal prosecutor with the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Justice Department.  In 1985 he was a co-founder of the firm of O'Neill & Lysaght, later called O'Neill, Lysaght & Sun.  In 2003 he became a partner at DLA Piper and joined the Firm on June 1, 2007.

As a plaintiff's trial lawyer, Mr. Lysaght has obtained seven separate multi-million dollar jury verdicts, amounting to over $75 million in total, and settled cases amounting to several hundred million dollars.  Four of the verdicts were amoung the top ten jury verdicts in the State of California in the year obtained.  On the defense side, he has tried cases for such clients as Lockheed-Martin Corporation (directed verdict, 2003) and Republic Industries (zero damages award, 2001) as well as settling numerous cases for a small fraction of damages sought.

Mr. Lysaght has been listed in Best Lawyers In America for twelve consecutive years, 1996-2007.  He has been recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer by Los Angeles Magazine every year since its inception.  He is also listed in Who's Who In American Law.
