About David
Mr. Bieging is Of Counsel to Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Bode Matz P.C. He was born in Stillwater, Minnesota, and educated at Harvard University, obtaining his A.B. in 1971. He graduated with a J.D. from the William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, in 1976. He was admitted to the Minnesota Bar in 1976 and to the District of Columbia Bar in 1978.
Mr. Bieging's practice is focused on federal regulatory matters as well as lobbying Congress and federal agencies. From 1972 to 1975, he worked as a professional staff person for the Minnesota State Legislature. In 1975, he joined the staff of U.S. Senator Walter F. Mondale and served as a Legislative Assistant. Mr. Bieging continued to work for Mr. Mondale in the Vice President's Office, drafting legislation, lobbying Congress, addressing problems in federal agencies, writing speeches, and traveling extensively with the Vice President. Beginning in 1979, he became the first Chief of Staff to Minneapolis Congressman Martin O. Sabo, a leading member of the House Appropriations Committee. After eight years as head of Representative Sabo's staff, Mr. Bieging helped begin the Washington office of Robins, Kaplan, Miller and Ciresi, a Minneapolis law firm. In 1989, he moved to the Washington office of Dorsey & Whitney, rejoining Vice President Mondale, and worked for fifteen years on legislative and regulatory matters for many clients. In January 2005, he joined Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Bode Matz P.C.
