About Deborah

In 2010, Deborah Sirotkin Butler began her twenty fifth year as an attorney in Massachusetts.  She has represented clients in divorce matters, paternity matters, and child welfare matters, such as care and protection and child in need of services, on both trial and appeal.  She has completed more than 150 appellate cases, and been instrumental to reforming the law through the appellate process.  Her reported decisions include Care and Protection of Vivian, Delk v. Gonzalez, Adoption of John, and Adoption of Linus, and many others.  She also accepts appointments as a Guardian Ad Litem, performs mediations, and practices collaborative law.  She is certified to accept court appointments in Juvenile Court and Probate Court in the area of child welfare law, normally cases involving the Department of Children and Families.  She offers Limited Attorney Representation, and mentors other attorneys involved in the appellate process.  She is also active as an advocate for children's rights as a volunteer, including in seeking reform to the foster care system, and child welfare practice in Massachusetts.

Hourly rate is "by agreement" and can vary by circumstances and type of case. Limited number of sliding scale cases taken on a yearly basis, on proof of income. LAR (Limited Attorney Representation including so-called "ghost writing" is available in the field of Family Law). Representation by this office requires a signed Retainer Agreement, as well as other office documents and prepayment of the agreed retainer sum.
