Introduction: | John Branch concentrates his practice in the area of civil litigation, including business, employment, and intellectual property litigation. His experience includes cases involving contract disputes, the Family Medical Leave Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Copyright Act, the Lanham Act, the North Carolina Trade Secrets Protection Act, land use law, and employment non-competition contracts. John also advises clients on various issues, including employment practices, land use law, and various business issues facing small and medium companies. Prior to joining Shanahan Law Group in 2007, John was an associate at Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak, & Stewart, PC, a national law firm concentrating in the area of labor and employment law. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, John grew up in both Atlanta and Smithfield, North Carolina. John completed his undergraduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001, where he was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. John completed his Juris Doctorate at the UNC School of Law in 2004. While attending law school, he served as the Symposium Editor and a member of the North Carolina Law Review and as an officer of the Carolina Law Chapter of the Federalist Society. John was a law clerk to the Honorable Glen M. Williams, Senior United States District Judge for the Western District of Virginia. John is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and is admitted to practice in all North Carolina state courts, the federal district courts of North Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. John is also a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Wake County Bar Association. He is the President of the Triangle Chapter of the Federalist Society and is a member of the Young Professionals Network of the Greater Raleigh Area Chamber of Commerce. When not working, John enjoys spending time with his family, keeping up with current events, fishing, golfing (poorly), and relaxing at the beach. |
