Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
A 21 year old bicyclist was struck by a teenager in a speeding vehicle. The bicyclist sustained closed head injury/brain injury which resulted in permanent disability including learning difficulties. Through hard work and determination, we proved that the motorist was negligent and that his negligence proximately caused damages in excess of $1.3 million dollars. We were able to settle the case for our client and provided our client with monies to invest for his future.
How did you build a successful practice?
I started out my practice by literally taking most cases that walked through the door. I strive to provide timely communication to my clients about their cases and worked hard to provide extraordinary results! As time went on, I began to receive more and more referrals from past clients, doctors and other lawyers.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
I think you should look for a trial lawyer that is honest, hard working and willing to put in the extra effort. You should be able to dial your lawyer's phone and have your lawyer pick up the phone versus a paralegal or secretary.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Certainly, local knowledge of the judges and community is helpful. However, a smart lawyer can certainly get up to speed on local customs, demographics and the court system in short order.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
I can provide as much or as little as the consultation requires in the first phone call. Such information would include the reputation of the auto insurance company, the potential venue and court of any negligent motorist and outcome.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Complete contact information of client; date of incident; detailed description of how incident occurred; client's auto insurer contact information; auto insurer of negligent motorist contact information including claim information; medical insurance applicability; property damage information and photographs; loss of wages/earnings information; medical treatment information and test results.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I have been asked on occasion to teach other lawyers how to try personal injury cases at trial. I have been recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer by Atlanta Magazine which represents the top 5% of the lawyers in Georgia. I am a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum that is exclusively reserved for trial lawyers who have achieved settlements/verdicts in excess of one million dollars. And, in law school,I was presented the American Jurisprudence Award of legal research, writing and appellate advocacy.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Satisfaction of my clients, period.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Spending time with my family; reading; writing for leisure.
Are you involved in your community?
I am involved in my church and within the neighborhood association.
