Mr. Kurt D. Ebersbach, Attorney

Kurt D. Ebersbach is a partner in the Atlanta office of Stack & Associates. He joined the firm in 2006. Throughout his career, Kurt has successfully represented individuals, businesses and non-profit associations in connection with environmental matters in state, federal and administrative courts. He has litigated all manner of environmental and land use matters, including citizen suits under the Clean Water Act and permit challenges under Georgia's Coastal Marshlands Protection Act. He is a certified mediator, with experience resolving a wide array of civil matters. He also has significant experience with municipal and local government issues, having served as the city attorney for the City of Rutledge, Georgia since 2005. He was named as a Georgia Rising Star Super Lawyer for the year 2007-08.

Prior to joining the firm, Kurt spent several years as a litigation associate in the environmental section of a large firm in midtown Atlanta. He also practiced law in Madison, Georgia, where he resided with his family for three years before returning to Atlanta.

Kurt's strong interest in environmental protection took root during his days as an undergraduate in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York. As a student at Cornell University, he studied ecology and natural resources under some of the leading researchers in the field. Upon graduation, he completed internships with the California Nature Conservancy in San Francisco and the National Wildlife Federation in Washington, D.C.

Kurt attended the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served as a Notes Editor on the Georgia Law Review, before graduating, cum laude, in 1997. During law school, he completed an internship with the Honorable Julie E. Carnes of the United States District Court, Atlanta Division. He also met his wife Candice, an intellectual property attorney. They have four children.

Kurt is a member and supporter of the Altamaha Riverkeeper, the Satilla Riverkeeper, Georgia Organics and Slow Food International. He is an avid guitarist and guitar collector. In his spare time, he enjoys artisan breadmaking, organic gardening, and Belgian ales.
