S. Marie Johnson | New Iberia Personal Injury Lawyer

S. Marie Johnson, a graduate of New Iberia Senior High School and Louisiana State University, with a BA in Political Science, obtained a Juris Doctorate degree from the Southern University Law Center in May of 2001. She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association admitted to practice in all state courts in the State of Louisiana and has been engaged in the practice of law since October 2001.
 
Attorney Johnson formerly practiced with Bonnie, Johnson and Jones, LLC, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and the Law Office of Derriel C. McCorvey, LLC, in Lafayette, Louisiana. For approximately twelve years, she has represented juveniles in Delinquency, FINS and CINC proceedings, parents in CINC matters and adults in misdemeanor cases at the trial and appellate levels. Although, Attorney Johnson, spent a short tenure as an Assistant Public Defender in the 15th Judicial District, most of the twelve years representing juveniles and parents has been as an Assistant Public Defender in the 16th Judicial District Court.

In addition to her duties as a public defender, Attorney Johnson maintains a private practice focused on personal injury claims, including medical malpractice, family law matters, successions and wills, and other general civil litigation and criminal law proceedings. Ms. Johnson has presented at various legal clinics, conferences and in-house learning sessions, including the annual Together We Can Conference (Louisiana), a multi-disciplinary event for professionals and volunteers working to make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children.
