January 2011 – Scott County District Court – Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle - Potential penalty was 90 days in jail and / or a fine of up to $1,000, plus 6 month driver’s license suspension.  Mr. Martin was able to negotiate a deal where our client was able to avoid jail time, avoid any driver’s license suspension, have the misdemeanor charge dismissed, pay a fine of $135, and plead guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia, a petty misdemeanor, thereby avoiding any criminal conviction.
