Burlington Sch. Dist., No. S0951-09 Cnc (May 31, 2011) Practice Area: Personal injury Outcome: Settlement Description: A plaintiff injured at a school filed suit claiming negligent maintenance. The City moved for summary judgment on grounds on municipal immunity. White v. Harris, et al. Practice Area: Medical malpractice Outcome: Reversed on appeal - case settled. Description: Alleged that death of adolescent by suicide was due to un-diagnosed mental illness and failure to take appropriate safety measures. The trial court dismissed the suit and Plaintiff appealed. Te Vermont Supreme Court reversed and reinstated the lawsuit. Callan v. Hackett, 170 Vt. 609, 749 A.2d 626 (2000) Practice Area: Personal injury Outcome: Affirmed Description: Set forth Vermont rule for burden of proof in allocation of injuries. McHugh v. University of Vermont, 966 F.2d 67 (2d Cir. 1992) Practice Area: Discrimination Outcome: Plaintiff prevailed on appeal - decision affirmed Description: Sexual and religious discrimination suit against university and US ROTC program.
