About Steven

Steven M. Weinger is a graduate of Hampshire College (B.A., 1975) and the University of Chicago School of Law (J.D., 1978). Immediately upon graduation, he taught civil rights litigation and criminal law at the University of Miami School of Law. Shortly thereafter, he joined the law firm of KURZBAN KURZBAN WEINGER AND TETZELI, P.A. where he is a partner and has practiced continuously since 1979.

Mr. Weinger's primary areas of practice are commercial litigation, health care and admiralty. Representative corporate clients include InPhyNet (IMMI), Cortecs International (DRURY), California Federal (CFHC), Sunrise Community, Inc., United Cerebral Palsy of Florida, Inc., Florida Association of Rehabilitative Facilities, and numerous closely held corporations (e.g. Tutortime, Inc.). Mr. Weinger also represents governmental entities (e.g. City of North Miami), serves as plaintiff's class counsel and represents individuals in a variety of litigation matters.

Mr. Weinger is nationally recognized for his successful litigation on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities. He practices primarily in federal court and before administrative tribunals. His skills and successes have been recognized with a variety of awards and honors. He is a member of the President's Club of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers and a member of the Trial Bar of the United States District Court.

Mr. Weinger serves on the boards of directors for a large number of charities, including educational institutions, advocacy groups for the disabled and non-profit health care providers. He is one of the less than one dozen health law attorneys in Miami, Florida recognized by Who's Who in American Law. He is also the proud father of Blake, Page and Haley.
